Global indexes closed higher last week with S&P 500 by +0.4% WoW and MSCI Asia ex-Japan up by +0.9% WoW on ‘peak-inflation, peak-hawkishness’ theme despite an escalation in geopolitical tensions in the Taiwan cross straits.

Global indexes rallied across the board, with S&P 500, Dow Jones, and MSCI Asia ex-Japan, up by +2.5%WoW, +2.0%WoW, +2.4%WoW, respectively. Some investors expect that peak inflation might be finally at this point. 

Global indexes were back in the red again last week with S&P 500 down by -0.9% WoW and MSCI Asia ex-Japan down by -3.7% WoW, as inflation came in higher than expected on the previous week. 

US equity indexes posted modest gain last week (S&P +1.9% and DJI +0.8% WoW), reversing the negative trend in the previous week. Large communication services, consumer discretionary, and information technology sectors performed best within the index. 

Global indexes were in the red zone as recession fear led risk assets (stocks, commodities) declined, but ‘safe-haven’ assets such as treasuries gained this past week. US Index edged lower after the last week rebound with S&P 500 and Dow Jones down by -2.2% and -1.3%WoW, respectively.
